Who Is Alyx Duffy?<\/h2>\n

Born in the mid- \u201880s, Alyx has grown up and come of age as a genderqueer person against the backdrop of incredible social transformation in Tkaronto (the original Mohawk name at the root of the name Toronto). Since 2010 Alyx\u2019s work has focussed on 2SLGBTQI inclusion across the country, with a strong focus on creating safer and inclusive spaces like Gender-Sexuality Alliances, also known as GSAs. Their work as a facilitator leaves participants of all ages feeling empowered & educated to create safer and more inclusive communities for 2SLGBTQI people from all walks of life.\n\n

Alyx\u2019s work is rooted in their ever-evolving attempts to understand themselves in context. As an able-bodied, white-presenting, MAAB, dyadic, neuro-typical, lean, university educated, English speaker, with a middle-class, settler family background they recognize the many ways in which they benefit from systems of privilege operating around them. Understanding and leveraging this privilege, while teaching others to do the same, is a key element of their work in communities across the country, as well as in their life at home. \n\n

As a genderqueer, multi-ethnic, and pansexual person they\u2019re also compelled by their own experiences of invisibility, discrimination and marginalization to push the limits of normative social institutions. Alyx enjoys encouraging everyone to consider how they can make their community safer and more inclusive for each and every complex and dynamic individual. \n\n

Alyx uses \u201cthey\/them\/their\u201d pronouns, and asks others to use these pronouns in reference to them.

Alyx offers their experience and expertise as a facilitator to people interested in starting or maintaining safer spaces, focussing on a range of topics and providing programming spanning a range of formats.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
